Why Christmas at The Dorchester in London Is Pure Holiday Magic

There’s nothing quite like London during the holidays. The city seems to glow a little brighter, with twinkling lights draped across historic streets and the air filled with festive cheer. For me, The Dorchester is where the season truly comes to life—a place that captures the magic of Christmas with timeless style and a sense of wonder. From November 15, 2025, through January 4, 2026, the hotel will once again be at the heart of London’s holiday celebrations, offering experiences to remember for years to come.

This year, the hotel’s celebrations embrace The Magic of Christmas while supporting Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, bringing a spirit of generosity to the season.

Festive Highlights to Remember

The holiday season at The Dorchester begins with two very special events:

  • An Evening with Mica Paris – On Friday, November 21, The Promenade will host an intimate evening concert with the acclaimed Mica Paris, filling the air with soulful holiday music.
  • Afternoon Tea with David Walliams – On Sunday, November 30, families can enjoy a festive afternoon tea as David Walliams performs a reading of Santa and Son. Young guests will also take home a signed copy of the book—a keepsake for years to come.

Both events will raise funds for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, adding heartfelt meaning to the celebrations.

A Winter Wonderland at The Dorchester

Beginning November 15, The Dorchester will be transformed into a world of festive beauty. A magnificent 15-foot Nordmann spruce will grace the lobby, dressed in sparkling lights by in-house designer florist Philip Hammond.

Nearby, an elaborate gingerbread house by executive pastry chef Michael Kwan will recreate London’s skyline in charming, edible detail—from the London Eye to iconic red phone boxes. Children can take part in gingerbread masterclasses or bring the magic home with DIY kits, while a Christmas grotto invites them to write letters to Santa. Even the pick-and-mix pop-up adds a playful touch for families exploring the seasonal displays.

Celebrating Through Culinary Experiences

The Dorchester has long been known for its extraordinary dining, and the holidays bring new delights:

  • Thanksgiving at The Grill – On November 27, a four-course menu featuring both classic and contemporary dishes will be served with live entertainment (£150 per adult, £75 per child).
  • Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Menus – Chef Martyn Nail at The Grill and Alain Ducasse offer refined seasonal menus for a truly memorable holiday feast.
  • Vesper Bar – Throughout the season, Vesper Bar will feature festive lunches, dinners, and live evening entertainment in a glamorous 1930s-inspired setting.

The gourmet hampers and gift boxes—from signature yule logs to champagne and artisanal chocolates—make exquisite holiday gifts, each beautifully presented for the season.

Afternoon Tea & Festive Stays

Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester is always a London tradition, but at Christmas, it becomes a truly magical experience. Seasonal pastries by Michael Kwan, the sounds of a children’s choir on weekends, and a glass of Veuve Clicquot create moments to savor (£125 weekday, £135 weekend).

For a full holiday escape, the Festive Stay package offers Christmas Eve cocktails, a traditional Christmas Day lunch with all the trimmings, and a late check-out on Boxing Day—perfect for enjoying every last moment of the celebration.

Welcoming the New Year

On New Year’s Eve, The Dorchester invites guests to dine across The Promenade, Vesper Bar, and The Grill with live music and entertainment before gathering together at midnight to welcome 2026 in style.
